For the most part this blog is just about that, being uninhibited. I believe long before I had kids there was that uninhibited side of me that was on the verge of breaking out until I had kids and got an office job and felt as if I needed to be a little more conservative in my looks. I walked around in the average clothes, the average hair style, and in no way expressing that artsy inner self that lay to rest for many years. I conformed to what was exceptable to society afraid of making any bad impressions. But I am coming to realize, how boring. There is this inner self that is bursting to come out. I think that in all my new self realizations that this is just another chapter.

So for a few awhile now I have been jokingly talking about tattoos and coloring my hair some funky shade of this and that. Not because I wanna be different but because how fun!! Just to step out of what I have been for the last few years. Why not? What is keeping me from it, other then what will people think. Brian and I have been talking about even just our clothes in general and how they totally don't represent our personalities at all. I think a lot of people do this. We become who society thinks we should be and look down on those that are different in any way from the norm. We have a fear of standing out, drawing attention to ourselves, letting people in. Pretty soon, I think we lose ourselves in some way. I am not suggesting that everyone should go out and color their hair and get tattoos and wear funky clothing. I am just saying that we shouldn't hesistate to adapt our own personal style, or to keep in a part of our personality that could shine if we would let it for fear of what in the world people would think. I have to commend those that have gotten this way earlier than I have. Way to go! I remember going to Hyvee for some grocery shopping and the clerk behind the counter had the coolest blue hair and peircings. She was absolutely beautiful. This was years ago and yet I remember thinking, I wish I could be like her. Not look like her per say, but be bold enough to step out of the restraits I had kept myself in.

So, I am thinking this will be gradual, but I have a hair apt. set up for this coming Tues. Do I go Blue or Purple, I don't know yet. And, contrary to what some think in my family, I am thinking of getting a tattoo behind my neck, of what yet I don't know. Watch out world, I am stepping out!

I've got nothing personal against tattoos. That's an individual thing. Looks good on some people and out of place on others.

As far as I'm concerned, the pain wouldn't bother me, but I could never think of a design that I would never get tired of. Even if it was in a place I wouldn't see regularly. I'd always know it was there. But, that's just me.

I'm glad I didn't cave when the arm-band tattoo phase was in style. I did consider it at one point. But then, I would have had to keep lifting weights to keep from looking like a deflated dweeb with ink.

Make sure it's "the one" before you get it. Here's some info from an article for you.

Re: Neck Tattoos

A question often asked when deciding on getting a neck tattoo is will it be more painful than getting a tat on other parts of the body? Because the skin on the back of the neck is thinner, the needle naturally comes closer to the bone which does make getting a neck tattoo a little more painful. Of course, it all depends on the individual’s physical and psychological makeup.

A tattoo usually heals in 2-3 weeks but a neck tattoo might take a little bit longer. This is due to the motion created by the movement of the head which causes the neck tattoo to scab quickly. As a result, you might need to re-ink a neck tattoo to fix some of the patchiness. Luckily, these re-ink sessions are not as painful as the initial session.

One advantage of a neck tattoo over hand or a foot tattoo is that they are less prone to infections. Do take precautions with sun exposure as it can cause the ink to fade so it is important to apply sun screen.

PS: Purple hair would be cool. Does this mean Brian is gonna be frosting his lettuce now? I can't wait to see that transformation.

I am having a hard time finding a tattoo that I will never get sick of so it may take awhile. But I am with you on that, for sure. I don't want just anything.. It's got to be "the one."
Brian already has his picked out. An angry donald duck.. don't know where it is going, but that is what he wants to get. We were really disappointed that we can't get our tattoo's even slightly intoxicated to help with the pain, is suppose to make you bleed more. Fun! Fun!

Brian actually tried to color his hair orange once, but it's so black it wouldn't take the color. But no, no frosting his lettuce. LOL

Since your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit you should be sure and check with the Holy Spirit first to see what he thinks. Since your body was created for his glory and you are his greatest creation how do you think he will feel about your making improvements on his art work? An angry Donald Duck would be quite an insult. If you put a tattoo on Michaelangelo's David you would be run out of Italy if not imprisoned or worse. God is much more awesome an artist than he was. Plus we will all be accountable to him for the things we do in the body!
